Your Role in Company
In this role, you will support the Quality Assurance Director in developing the annual assurance plan, ensuring its successful execution, and preparing the bi-annual quality assurance report. Your key responsibilities will include conducting independent cold file reviews based on the approved annual quality assurance plan, discussing your findings with the responsible individuals, and scoring the audit files.
Additionally, you may be assigned ad hoc quality assurance initiatives as directed by the Quality Assurance leadership. You will collaborate closely with the National Audit Support (NAS) team to promptly identify any audit deficiencies requiring their attention.
This may extend to specific requests such as focused reviews mandated by regulators or audit leadership. As part of this cooperation with NAS, you may be asked to contribute examples of good and bad practices identified during file reviews to assist in training efforts.
When addressing quality-related matters, there will inevitably be situations where you need to constructively challenge engagement teams and provide adverse ratings for audit files.
Therefore having excellent technical knowledge (including ISAs, IFRS, UK GAAP, and applicable regulations), strong communication skills, and objectivity are essential attributes for this role. Building robust relationships with client service delivery teams will ensure that any adverse findings are discussed objectively and positively.
Job Responsibility
- Possession of a professional accountancy qualification (ACA, CA, or ACCA).
- Experience in auditing up to the manager level, ideally with audit quality assurance experience.
- Profound knowledge of UK GAAP and/or IFRS, as well as the ISAs (International Standards on Auditing).
- Ability to review files, with a focus on identifying significant areas requiring attention while distinguishing between audit-specific and firmwide concerns.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively at all levels, including the firm’s senior audit leadership.
- Maintaining all records during the challenging discussions on the audit findings.
- A passion for audit quality and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
